First impressions.
Visual. Rather short and slight at 157cm and 51kg, with short, dark, shaggy hair and large, brown eyes. A fairly attractive face, though nothing spectacular. He almost always looks quite healthy and youthful, sometimes to the point of causing people to question his age (it doesn't help that his ID says he's 21). Across his throat is a very light scar, though one would have to be very close to see it.
Fashion. He'll wear anything that catches his fancy, which can change on any given day. Most of the time his clothing choices are quite revealing. Shorts and loose tops appear most often. Never absent is a pair of intertwined thin bangles made of red jade that clatter together around his left ankle.
Demeanor. Quite energetic, flighty even. He gets excited easily, but just as easily loses interest and moves on to the next thing.
About.
Asaeda Chiaki and his elder twin Seiji grew up in Hiroshima, living fairly ordinary lives. Chiaki was the studious type, even going as far as doing his brother's homework so that they would pass through grades together, not wishing to move on without him. Seiji couldn't care less. He barely went to class, and could only pass tests with the help of long cram sessions the night before with his brother. Chiaki spent all his time studying, working hard to stay at the top of his class. Even with all his help, he couldn't keep Seiji up there with him, but that only made him work harder. He had no friends, no social life, and barely talked to anyone but his brother, whom he loved dearly.

The day before their deaths, Seiji had missed class yet again, spending most of the time outside, enjoying the nice day, until he was accosted by a rival student, Isao. Isao had learned a dark secret that the twins shared and was threatening to use that information to help his father gain favor in the company where he worked with the twins' father. Chiaki could see the fight from his classroom window but stayed where he was, not wanting to risk getting into trouble by running outside to help.

The fight ended without a clear winner that day, but the next definitely proved who was the real victor. Isao had made good on his threat, and because of that, Seiji and Chiaki's father was completely disgraced. That night, the man appeared to temporarily lose his mind and murdered his own sons as they slept in their bed.

The twins’ time in Yomi seemed like forever as they were split into separate hells, going through torments that still weren't as bad as the mere fact that they couldn't face them together. In reality, only about 49 days passed before their souls recombined. It just so happened that on that final day, Isao and his friends were paying a visit, daring each other to prove their "bravery" by desecrating the site. They'd thought it was safe. The usual amount of time for a soul to move on had passed. But they were wrong, and once the twins took their Second Breaths right there at their gravesite, it was Isao and his friends who were first to be devoured by the new chih-mei.

The twins left a little while afterward, setting out for Kyoto at first, where they were found and taken in for lessons on their new state. Spiritually, the two ended up on nearly opposite paths, but they stayed together as much as they possibly could. There was nothing to stop them from doing so now. Less than a year after their deaths, their hometown was utterly destroyed, and they could never return to it. There was no looking back even if they ever had the urge, and all they had was each other.

Chiaki loved to take on little odd jobs here and there, dropping them when they were no longer interesting. The deaths of their parents (father due to suicide soon after his sons’ deaths, mother years later from bomb-related causes) left a little money available to them, enough that they could continue on their paths without much concern. It wasn't a large amount, and it took some doing to obtain it since everyone knew they had already died, but it was enough to be worth the trouble, and soon they moved again.

For years, they traveled, settling here or there, mostly until Chiaki got bored and poked at Seiji until he agreed to travel again, but it was all rather aimless. Eventually, the two of them decided to see what the big deal about the west was, heading to the west coast of the United States to check things out there.
